Triple Mentor System
Asia University operates a “Triple Mentor System,” assigning a Class Mentor, a Mentor-Family Advisor, and a Career Mentor to address three key aspects of student life: adjustment to campus life, academic planning, and career development. Through individualized care and guidance, this system helps students grow steadily during their studies and plan for the future early. System Overview
Asia University operates the Triple Mentor System in accordance with its “Regulations for the Implementation of the Mentor System.” The guiding principle is to foster students' adjustment to campus life, proactive learning, and career-planning ability, and to deepen guidance on course selection, academic development, and career development through individualized care. The university-wide system is coordinated by the Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Academic Affairs: the Dean of Student Affairs serves as Chief Mentor for life guidance and career guidance, and the Dean of Academic Affairs serves as Chief Mentor for academic guidance. Each college and department then assigns a College Chief Mentor, a Department Chief Mentor, and individual Class Mentors according to this structure.
The Triple Mentor System comprises three roles — “Class Mentor (Life Guidance)”, “Mentor-Family Advisor (Academic Guidance)”, and “Career Mentor (Career Planning)” — corresponding to the three most important aspects of student life on campus: daily life and physical/mental adjustment, academic study and course planning, and post-graduation career development. The three roles work together so that every student receives complete support and companionship throughout their studies.
Three Types of Mentors
Below, according to the system's regulations, are the responsible units and duties of the Class Mentor, Mentor-Family Advisor, and Career Mentor.
Class Mentor (Life Guidance)
Responsible unit: Office of Student Affairs, with the Dean of Student Affairs serving as Chief Mentor. Each undergraduate class is assigned one Class Mentor, responsible for providing care, counseling, consultation, and referral. The Class Mentor serves as a communication bridge between students and the university, helping with matters such as adjustment to campus life, physical and mental health, and unexpected situations.
Mentor-Family Advisor (Academic Guidance)
Responsible unit: Office of Academic Affairs, with the Dean of Academic Affairs serving as Chief Mentor. Each department groups students by academic or professional interest and assigns full-time faculty as Mentor-Family Advisors, forming cross-grade “mentor families.” They help students with course selection guidance, academic planning, and initial discussions on career development, and provide learning support such as counseling on changing majors and reduced course loads.
Career Mentor (Career Planning)
Responsible unit: Office of Student Affairs, with the Dean of Student Affairs serving as Chief Mentor. Each department has one Career Mentor, who provides employment guidance, career planning, and career assessment consultation, helps organize department career events and seminars, and conducts the graduate destination survey.
