Doctoral Program

1Eligibility

• Graduates (including expected graduates) of a master's program at a university or independent college accredited by Taiwan's Ministry of Education, holding a master's degree.
• Graduates of a master's program at a foreign university or independent college recognized by the Ministry of Education, holding a master's degree.
• Applicants with equivalent qualifications who meet the eligibility requirements set by the department's doctoral program in the admissions guide may also apply.

2Degree Duration Regulations

The duration of study for the university's doctoral students is limited to 2 to 7 years. The required duration and credit hours, as well as any other evaluation requirements, are governed by each department's own regulations.

3Admission Method

• Conducted through “application review” and “interview.”
• Both the department's Screening-Based Admission and Examination-Based Admission for the doctoral program are conducted in a single stage: applicants who pass the eligibility review have their application materials scored and are interviewed.
• The interview time and location will be announced on the Admissions Office and department websites two days before the interview.
• The actual interview time and location are subject to each department's official announcement.

Note: An applicant applying to two or more departments simultaneously may coordinate the interview time with the departments concerned.

4Application Method and Dates

Application method: online application only. After an applicant submits an online application, the university reviews eligibility based on the uploaded materials...Applicants should carefully confirm their eligibility beforehand; please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements!

1Eligibility

1. Bachelor's degree graduates of a university or independent college accredited by Taiwan's Ministry of Education, or those with equivalent qualifications, who after one year of study proceed directly to the doctoral program via the combined master's–doctoral fast-track pathway.
2. A background in biomedical engineering or a related field is preferred.

4Required Application Materials

1. Original undergraduate transcript (with class rank) and a copy of the degree certificate.
2. Resume (one copy each in Chinese and English).
3. Research proposal.
4. 2 letters of recommendation.
5. Other supporting materials for review (e.g., publications, works, certifications, awards, etc.).

6Application Method and Dates

Applications are submitted online. After an applicant submits an online application, the university reviews eligibility based on the uploaded materials — please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements!

Application dates: Screening-Based Admission from late October to end of November each year; Examination-Based Admission from early February to early March each year. Prospective applicants are advised to pay close attention to announcements from the university's Admissions Office.

7Notes

1. This track received funding under the Ministry of Education's 2018 (AY107) “Elite University-Industry Collaboration R&D Talent Cultivation Program.”
2. Students in this track must be full-time graduate students and may not hold another full-time job.
3. Students in this track proceed directly to the doctoral program after 1 year of master's-level coursework, completing the doctoral degree in 5 years total.
4. Each year students receive an NT$200,000 Ministry of Education scholarship, funded for 5 years total.
5. The timing and details of the oral examination are subject to the university's Admissions Office announcements.
6. Any unfilled direct-to-PhD quota will be reallocated to Examination-Based Admission.
