Teaching Laboratories Computational Biology Teaching Lab (H406) Health Building 4F

We apply artificial intelligence techniques to solve biological and medical problems, collaborating with experts across disciplines and institutions on cross-departmental, cross-institutional research projects.

The lab currently focuses on the following research areas:

1. Using AI and generative AI models for the prediction, analysis, and validation of therapeutic peptides
2. Natural language processing for mining biomedical literature and clinical case data
3. Using data science techniques to analyze clinical data on communication disorders in the elderly and language development disorders in children

Tissue Engineering Lab (H219) Health Building 2F

This tissue engineering laboratory focuses on research experiments and is equipped with advanced instruments such as cell culture incubators and sterile operation benches, supporting the development of biomedical materials and tissue regeneration technology.

Through a rigorous sterile environment and high-performance facilities, the lab conducts precise cell experiments and biomaterial manipulation, providing a solid research platform for regenerative medicine and advanced medical applications.

Medical Materials Development Lab (H206-2) Health Building 2F

Established in response to the department's addition of the Medical Engineering track in AY2015 (Academic Year 104), this lab currently focuses on biomedical materials, training students in:

(1) Materials analysis
(2) Tissue engineering
(3) Electronic signal sensing

It also supports faculty and graduate students in publishing papers and conducting industry-academia research.

Medical Engineering Lab (H207) Health Building 2F

This lab is dedicated to advancing innovative research and applications in medical engineering, focusing on the development and testing of biomedical materials, combined with 3D printing technology to improve the precision and performance of medical devices.

It also provides diverse experimental facilities to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, giving students a strong platform for hands-on coursework and putting innovative ideas into practice, supporting future clinical applications and industry-academia development.

The lab currently offers an SPR biomedical signal detection platform for teaching and research.

Established in response to the rapid growth of biomedical big data, this lab is equipped with several servers and workstations offering both computing and storage capacity.

It currently focuses on developing bioinformatics analysis tools and providing an integrated bioinformatics research platform.

Organized into research areas according to faculty expertise, providing research space for students and faculty and supporting related teaching:

1. Biomimetic Computing Lab
With the rise of high-speed computing power, biomimetic evolutionary computation — algorithms inspired by biological systems — has become a practical and effective approach, now widely applied across many fields. This lab trains students in the software development and application of biomimetic computing.

2. Intelligent Computing Lab
In response to the development of cloud computing, this lab researches and develops portable algorithms with intelligent inference capabilities to efficiently and rapidly solve problems in biomedicine. It trains students to build cloud-based intelligent computing systems.

3. Biomedical Signal Processing Lab
Established for practical applications in biomedical signal processing, training students with hands-on experience in this field. The lab currently offers a biomedical signal processing platform for teaching and research.
