Undergraduate Research Program
The National Science and Technology Council's “Undergraduate Student Research Program” encourages undergraduate students to gain early experience of the full research process under faculty mentorship, and is one of the department's key channels for student participation in academic research.
1Program Purpose
The National Science and Technology Council's Undergraduate Student Research Program aims to give outstanding undergraduate students the opportunity to receive research training early, with advising professors guiding students from formulating a research topic, through conducting the research, to writing the final report — cultivating students' research skills and academic ethics literacy.
2Eligibility
- Undergraduate students in their sophomore year or above, with a commitment to advise from a professor and a strong academic record.
- The advising professor must meet the National Science and Technology Council's qualifications for a research project principal investigator, and may advise no more than 2 students per year.
- The student and advising professor may not be spouses or relatives by blood or marriage within the third degree.
3Application and Project Period
Each academic year, the application deadline generally falls around January–February (actual dates are subject to the National Science and Technology Council's annual announcement); the project period runs from July 1 through the end of February the following year, for a total of 8 months. Students must complete at least 6 hours of academic ethics education during the project period.
4Recent Departmental Results
In AY2026 (Academic Year 115), faculty and students of this department had 10 projects approved under the National Science and Technology Council's Undergraduate Student Research Program, demonstrating the research achievements of undergraduate students in this department under faculty mentorship.

Interested students should first discuss a research topic with a professor willing to advise them, and watch for the internal application timeline and online application system opening announced by the Office of Academic Affairs / Office of Research and Development.
