The latest rankings from the Times Higher Education (THE) have been released for the " Young University Rankings 2024", with Asia University ranked 83rd globally. This marks the second consecutive year of entering the top 100 and the first among private universities in Taiwan. President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai stated that in its 23-year history, Asia University has become the youngest comprehensive university in Taiwan to achieve such recognition, indicating international acknowledgment of its educational performance.
Ching-Hsien Hsu, the Research and Development Director of Asia University, highlighted that THE's " Young University Rankings 2024" evaluates institutions worldwide established for less than 50 years. This year, 673 universities from 68 countries were assessed, with three Taiwanese universities making it to the top 100, including National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and Asia University.
President Tsai noted that since its inception, internationalization has been a key objective set by Asia University's founder and chairman, Chang-Hai Tsai. After 14 years of endeavor, Asia University first entered THE's "World's Best Universities" ranking a decade ago. The university's continuous improvement in educational performance reflects its commitment to progress towards becoming a world-class institution.
Ching-Hsien Hsu added that over the past decade, Asia University has consistently ranked in four global "best university" lists, including those by THE, QS, ShanghaiRanking, and U.S. News & World Report. This widespread recognition illustrates the international acclaim and accreditation received by Asia University.
Ying-Huei Chen, Director of the Office of International Affairs at Asia University, mentioned that due to the university's reputation and continuous advancement, it attracts numerous international students. Furthermore, domestic alumni applying to study abroad benefit from Asia University's international reputation, which facilitates their acceptance into prestigious institutions overseas, often accompanied by scholarships, credit exemptions, shortened degree durations, and reduced financial burdens.
Ching-Hsien Hsu emphasized that Asia University remains at the forefront of research and teaching, aligning itself with international standards. The university has established research centers such as the Center for Precision Health Research, Big Data Research Center, and Fintech & Blockchain Research Center. Recently, President Jeffrey J.P. Tsai led Asia University's faculty team specializing in "AI Intelligence and Smart Healthcare" to Silicon Valley for collaboration discussions with AMD in the field of smart healthcare, aiming to develop AI medical platforms beneficial to humanity. Asia University has also established the " AMD Logic and Computation Laboratory " to utilize AMD's computing resources, supporting the offering of multiple courses related to artificial intelligence by the Department of Computer Science & Information Engineering.
Over the past five years, Asia University has received subsidies from the Ministry of Education for its "Study Abroad Series", supporting 2000 students in overseas learning and short-term training programs. Additionally, the university has introduced international dual-degree programs at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, enabling students to study at foreign universities after completing their studies at Asia University, thus saving both time and tuition fees. With frequent international exchanges, Asia University offers diverse opportunities for students to fulfill their dreams of studying abroad, thereby broadening their international perspectives, a distinctive feature of Asia University.
