Founded in 2002, our department (formerly known as Institute of Bioinformatics) was the first institute in Taiwan to offer programs in biomedical informatics leading to BS, MS, and PhD degrees, and prepares students for careers in academia, government and private sectors in bio-pharmaceutical technology, computer science and healthcare.

Our faculty members, graduated from top universities in Taiwan and abroad, and are young and talented. In addition to individual research, several faculty members come from different domains of expertise to form research teams led by distinguished professors. This teaching-research synergy provides group learning and interdisciplinary discussion experience.

In Taiwan, we play a leading role in cutting-edge research in bioinformatics, especially focusing on drug discovery, biomedical image analysis, systems biology, semantic and cloud computing.

Our mission is to develop frontier technologies facilitating research in biomedicine and improving public health. The addition of you makes it more personal through studies using informatics and computational technologies. Our department has attracted international as well as local students with diverse majors in biology, chemistry, medicine, computer science and mathematics.
