Students of the Department of Nursing at Asia University (AU) participated in the “2020 Cochrane Empirical Medicine Microfilm Competition ” jointly organized by Wiley and Shou Ray Information Service Co., Ltd. The students Zu-Er Zhang, Yu-Shan Huang and Ci-Min Lai won a gold medal by their work entitled “One-day Street Visit of a Cochrane Commissioner,” and Yi-nong Lin and Yong-xiang Yao won a masterpiece award by their work entitled “Hangover.”。

Dean of the College of Nursing at AU, Prof. Hua-Shan Wu, said that Evidence-based Nursing (EBN) is the trend in the nursing profession. The students must learn to find the best literature from huge and fast-changing medical databases and judge the credibility of data through reading processes strictly, provide the best clinical decision making based on evidence and achieve precision-nursing goals. The saying mentioned above is the same as Nursing 4E (i.e., Empathy, Efficacy, Evidence, and Evolution) for nursing developments.

The advisor who guided the students to participate in the competition of the Department of Nursing at AU, Li-chun Lee, said that in the student-guiding process, they were led to follow the competition step by step from discussing the topics and questions of the PICO approach, understanding the clinical problem, designing the research methods, determining the level of evidence, and searching strategies and techniques in the literature database, etc. The students who participate in the competition fully demonstrated their critical thinking, innovation, independent learning, and teamwork abilities in the process of conceiving and shooting short-films.

One of the gold medal winners of the 2020 Cochrane Empirical Medicine Microfilm Competition , Zu-Er Zhang, said that it was the first time she participated in a national competition and won the gold medal, thanks to the teacher's painstaking guidance and the team members who united together. It is great that the team got delightful result finally!

The masterpiece award winner of the 2020 Cochrane Empirical Medicine Microfilm Competition, Yi-nong Lin, said that his team likes shooting and making videos, and this competition combines the nursing professional studies with their own interests. He believes that he can become a young slashie through multiple participations and trainings. By the way, the aforementioned awards have already been granted in the ceremony of the competition held by the Taiwan Evidence-Based Nursing Association.
