Through the collaborative efforts of AU and global institutions, AU students have continuously participated in programs held in countries all over the world in the past few years. In this summer, in particular 84 AU students joined several study-abroad programs offered by internationally-renowned universities, such as Malaya University (Malaysia), the University of the West (U.S.A.), the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain), Asia University (Japan), and Sejong University (Korea). In addition, 11 students from the Foreign Languages & Literature Department (DFFL), the Finance & Economic Law Department (FELD), and the Leisure & Recreation Management Department, respectively, won Scholarships for Excellent Students to Study Abroad funded by the Ministry of Education (MOE), for one-year study programs in England, Switzerland, USA, Japan and Malaysia.

Professor Ying-hui Chen, Dean of the AU College of Humanities and Social Sciences, indicates that AU students are also very aggressive in winning global exposures in many other arenas. 35 students, led by the AU Chair Professor Mao-ling Shih, participated in the 2014 Joint Conference on Industrial Management & Accounting and Information in Guangdong, China. Also led by Chair Professor Shih, 18 AU students joined a one-week study-visit program sponsored by the Dr. Sun Yet-san Foundation in Guangdong, China. In addition, four students from the DFFL won the MOE Pilot Overseas Internships and have already departed to work as interns at Singapore Changi Airport this summer. Also, two students from the International Business Department took internships at the Beijing Digital Telecom Co. and the Founder Technology Group, respectively.

Perhaps the even more noteworthy growth comes from the number of AU volunteers participating in overseas humanitarian services. Shu-jen Lo, Supervisor of the Service Learning Office in AU, emphasizes that, for four consecutive years, AU students have been serving actively as volunteers in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Cambodia. In August this year, 29 AU students will join a volunteer program in Malaysia and help in promoting the ideas of gender quality, internet addiction prevention, and financial management. From the AU Department of Social Work, 15 students went to Cambodia for an international volunteer program in June and July this year, and in the coming week, 3 more will be teaching as volunteers at the Osaka Chinese School in Japan.
