President Jeffrey J. P. Tsai said that nearly 20 companies, including hospitals, optics and medical equipment companies, etc., came to AU to recruit talents in the career expo held by AU on May 12, and the achievement is through the hard work of the College of Medical and Health Science, the College of Nursing, and the Asia University Hospital (AUH) over the past few years. Furthermore, coming from the Department of Nursing at the Cathay General Hospital (CGH), an informatics nurse said that students who graduated from the Department of Nursing at AU have good quality, and so she came to this exposition to recruit new talents especially. Prof. Shao-Liang Chang, Dean of Student Affairs at AU, said that AU held the career expo for the students who will graduate from AU on June 5, and the exposition has more than 80 companies and government units which came to AU to recruit talents. Furthermore, the exposition provided nearly 3000 high-quality jobs, including psychologists, speech therapists, audiologists, nurses, optometrists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, engineers, accountants, kindergarten teachers, etc. Dean Chang believes that these jobs are provided to offer opportunities to the students of the College of Medical and Health Science to obtain national certificates. These opportunities are offered because of the excellent service reputation of the alumni of AU in the industry. Due to these opportunities, many students of AU registered at the scene for interviews offered by the representatives from the industry. President Tsai pointed out that AU had applied for an employment program of the Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor; and AU is ranked the first among the universities in Central Taiwan, and the best in the higher education system in the country. According to the 1111 Manpower Bank survey, the most popular reasons for companies to hire students of AU are their creativity, empathy, responsibility, and teamworking. Furthermore, Director Lin, the Central Department of the Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor, said that the business community affirms the innovation and teamwork spirit of the students of AU. This fact is also the result of the cooperation between the Workforce Development Agency of the Ministry of Labor and AU in training professional talents over the years.
Prof. Yu-Ling Hsieh, Head of the Career Development and Guidance Section of the Student Affairs Office at AU, said that the College of Medical and Health Science of AU trains talents for obtaining national certificates, including the Department of Psychology, the Department of Optometry, the Department of Physical Therapy, the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology, the Department of Medical Laboratory Science and Biotechnology, the Department of Healthcare Administration, etc. Furthermore, the alumni who obtained national certificates have very good reputations for their services in the academia. This fact attracts many medical institutions and long-term care centers, such as CGH, China Medical University Hsinchu Hospital, Wanqiao Branch of Taichung Veterans General Hospital, Taichung Tzu Chi Hospital, Show Chwan Mermorial Hospital, En chu Kong Hospital, Lin Shin Hospital, etc., to come to the school to recruit talents. This has become a feature of talent recruitment in AU that so far does not have a medical department!
The Student Affairs Office pointed out that 80 well-known financial and information companies, including HIWIN technologies corp., Longchang Group, CC TECH, Tien Li Offshore Wind Technology CO., IKEA, etc., provided nearly 3000 jobs in this career expo. In order to meet the needs of students for job hunting, the Career Development and Guidance Section of the Student Affairs Office at AU hires professional career counselors especially to provide students with high-quality resume diagnosis services. Furthermore, Dean Zhang expects to help manufacturers find talents through this career expo, promote connections and cooperation between AU and the industry, and increase students' job opportunities and employment rates.
